It started under a Peepal tree - a small thatched hut. This hut served both the dressing theater for the leprosy patients as well the residence of the man with minimum means of subsistence. Another hut sprang up when a friend joined. Children from adjoining slums started coming and a non conventional school began to function. These were seed which gave birth to a school [ now recognized by the Government] and a dispensary for the leprosy patients .The school was named in memory of the a noted social worker. |

Situated at the main centre Sewa Kunj the school is primarily meant to impart education to the nomadic communities who reside in their temporary localities on the bank of Ganga .The emphasis is on development of cultural values and sense of social responsibilities in the students . Children of leprosy patients sit alongside the other children of tribal communities . The school is recognized by Uttranchal education Department.

The dispensary is the beginning of the proposed hospital for leprosy patients.At present the dispensary is equipped with all the necessary instruments and medicines as well as looked after by competent doctors . It proved a boon for the patients who prefer to come to this modest place not only for treatment but for love and solace. Participation of the workers of the mission center in the social functions as well religious festivals of these communities has generated a sense of trust among these forlorn people. |

The main function of the Mission was focused on the rehabilitation of the children belonging to the families of leprosy patients and gives them a promising future. This could not have been po ssible in temporary hutments of Sewa Kunj. The Mission had to find a second place. The search ended in Ganga Bhogpur village in Chilla forest range twenty km from the original center. This new center was named Vande Matram Kunj.
In middle of lush green forests and the elephant sanctuary stands a hostel and school building complex. The building is called Pradeep Vatika in memory of Pradeep a brave worker of the mission who laid down his life while saving two children from the flood waters of river Ganga. The hostel is home to 200 students belonging to the leprosy patients who come from different states of India. Under the vigilance of resident teachers these children are groomed in an atmosphere of rich cultural and moral values .The students are given proper physical and sports training. The students have shown meritorious results in inter school competitions held in the district.
- The school Divya Bharat Shiksha Mandir is primary school of 200 students and 15 Teachers.
- Although the Mission has to spend a Rs. 3,00,000 / month to run the school and the hostel education, lodging and the boarding for the students and the Teachers is free.
- The Mission maintains a Goshala with a dozen of cows to provide fresh milk to the students.
- There is proper arrangement for regular health check by qualified doctors.
- A small workshop helps the children to learn the basic trades which may help them to select their own profession in future.
- The school maintains a library as well.

In 1997 a kindergarten was started at Sewa Kunj. A few thatched huts was a total accomodation. it also serve as temporary hostel. 26 children of the leprosy patients were
admitted. It was leter shifted to Vandematram Kunj and named after a devoted worker Pradeep who sacrificed his life while serving the cause of the mission.A full fledged hostel has been completed now in Vande Matram Kunj campus.
At present 200 resident students from (U.P., Uttaranchal, Punjab, M.P., Harayana, Delhi, Orisa,Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh) reside in the hostel in order to receive education for their all around development. Lodging and boarding is totally free. All expences including the train tickets to their home during vacations are met by the mission.

Divya Bharat Shiksha Mandir is the name of school with the role of 220 students who are residence of Pradeep Vatika hostel. The students receive quality education from trained teachers, coming mostly from the surrounding villages.

The children brought up in the Vande Matram Kunj are given training in the field of small scale productions. It is envisaged that the children would thus be able to carve an honorably earning place for themselves in the society. |

| The Computer Center |

In order to provide an up-to-date education to the students of Divya Bharat Shiksha Mandir, the Divya Prem Sewa Mission plans to develop a full-fledged Computer Center at the Vande matram Kunj campus. The Mission has already raised a building to house the computer center, and has installed a few computers in full operational order.

The Nachiketa Library is established in the campus for enhancing knowledge level of the students of the Pradeep Vatika hostel and thereby transforming their personality. The library is slowly growing with many good books on various topics and subjects being added every year to provide diversified knowledge and information to the students. |
